I'm 7 months! |
My sweet Scarlett is seven months and boy is her little personality starting to shine through. As each month passes, she learns more and more and regardless of seeing these milestones with Penelope, it's just as exhilarating to see Scarlett accomplish them as they were when Penelope did.
Scarlett now rolls from front to back and back to front but only over her right shoulder. She woke us up a few times in the middle night to inform us that she was stuck and needed assistance getting back to her original position, on her back. I've figured out that if I place her in the top corner of the crib, she's able to roll over her shoulder but then use her hands to push her self back to her desired position. But as of the past two mornings when I got her up, she was sleeping so contently on her belly! Could she potentially be like her mommy, a belly sleeper?! Time will tell!
She's also quite the kicker. She loves splashing with her legs at bath time which often results in mommy getting completely soaked once bath is over. And not only does she express herself with those kicking legs, but now she's found her voice! She is such a squealing girl! I love how she expresses her excitement, kicking and squealing loud enough so the whole world can hear her.
I remember when we first brought Scarlett home and how once the adrenaline wore off, I didn't know how I was going to survive, taking care of Penelope and a new born. Now I can't imagine my life before Scarlett and although there are still many tiresome days, I remind myself that the next day is a new day and that she is only this young for so long and before I know it, I won't be nursing her any longer, she won't want me to hold her, and she won't need me to feed her (and she'll be saying "I'll do it mommy, I'll do it mommy" just like her sister!).
I never want to take for granted how blessed and fortunate we are to have these two beautiful, healthy baby girls that have changed and bettered my life. I reflect back when I was pregnant with Scarlett and how I couldn't imagine the heart having the capacity to love another child (I know NOW that was the most RIDICULOUS thing EVER), and then I met Scarlett on September 29 and I knew I'd fallen head over heels in love all over again. The fulfillment Scarlett has given me is an indescribable one and in five months she'll be a year. She is my sweet spunk a munk as I call her and I will continue to embrace the days of holding her on my hip, the contagious laughter she gives me when I grab her chunky munky thighs, and the giggling with her gummy grin when we dance to Adele. These are the memories we are making, these are the stories I'll share with her one day. She is my beloved baby girl, Penelope's treasured sister, and daddy's little girl.
